A chastity cage under clothes is invisible when it fits. Most of the outline you would see through trousers is the outline you had before the cage went on; a flaccid penis in a cage built to its measurements takes up almost the same room it always did, plus a quarter inch of steel ring behind it and bars an eighth to a quarter inch thick around it. What shows is a badly fitted cage: one that is too long, so it hangs low and shifts every time you stand up.
We have built cages to measure since 2009. The honest answer has three parts: what can show, why fit matters, and which designs have the lowest profile.
Hiding a chastity cage: the two things that can show
Only two things about a cage can give it away.
The outline. Thin, light, tight fabric shows more of everything, cage or no cage. A well-fitted open bar cage adds very little bulk, because the wearer fills the cage in length and girth at his normal flaccid state and the bars are thin round stock. A cage with extra room inside is a different story, and we’ll get to it.
The lock. A padlock that dangles is the most visible part of most cages, and the loudest. The Abus lock we sell sits sideways against the body rather than hanging down, and it makes no noise. The security screw goes one step further: it goes in the same hole the padlock uses, so there is no padlock at all. Nothing to swing, nothing to rattle in a quiet office. A well-built steel cage has no loose parts to clink. The only thing that can make noise is a cheap padlock knocking against a ring. Fix the lock and you have fixed the sound.

Fit is the concealment feature
Every concealment problem we hear about turns out to be a sizing problem wearing a disguise.
A cage that is too long leaves extra space at the tip. That space fills with blood during an attempted erection, and William’s comparison is worth repeating: it is like filling a balloon halfway, more pressure than if there were no room at all, and the cage pulls away from the body with more force. Between erections, a long cage shifts all day, hangs lower than it should, and adds weight you didn’t need to carry.
A cage that fits holds itself up without pulling. With no extra room inside, it sits flat against the body and stays where the base ring put it. That is also the cage you forget you’re wearing, which is our standard for a good fit and, not by accident, the best concealment there is.
Two more fit details decide how a cage sits:
• Length errs short. Too short is normally not a big issue, and a lot of our clients prefer a short cage. Too long will always remind you it is there. If you are between readings, the shorter one hides better. Our guide to short, Mini and Micro cages covers the trade-offs.
• The base ring holds the cage up, and it can hold it closer. If a correctly sized cage still slides down, a double base ring takes up more of the scrotum skin and holds the cage closer to the body. There is no limit to how many rings we can add; many of our clients are up to four.

If your cage moves or pinches, start with the seven ways a cage fits wrong before you change your wardrobe.
Low profile chastity designs, from bars to flat
Open bar cages. The Jail Bird is the classic: thin, rigid round bars on a quarter-inch base ring, with nothing solid to add bulk. It was designed for 24/7/365 wear, and its low profile is part of why. The Mini Jailbird and Micro Jailbird are the absolute shortest length cages possible, which for many wearers is the whole concealment question answered.
Solid shroud designs. A device like the Watchful Mistress covers more of the shaft with a shaped solid front. Some wearers prefer the feel of full coverage. Whether it shows through fabric comes down to the length and girth of any cage.
Flat cages. A flat chastity cage compresses the penis into the body, and the result is a cage that can’t be detected. That is the most discreet profile we make, and it comes with real trade-offs. You sit to urinate, because the penis is compressed back and not allowed any room, and it will spray. The cage also needs more cleaning and more frequent removal than a standard design, and the cage diameter is more of a good guess than a measurement, since a compressed penis gets wider. Many flat-cage wearers add a Base Ring Chain Belt or Base Ring Mouse Ears to hold the cage in position and secure it against pullout. Read what a flat chastity cage is and what you give up before you decide it’s for you.
Closed tubes. A closed plastic tube has a thicker profile. The reason is that the manufacturers have to make them thicker to prevent breakage.

The most discreet chastity cage is the one that fits
So what is the most discreet chastity cage? A short cage, in an open bar design, with a security screw instead of a padlock, built to your four sizes. In that order.
Here is how a chastity cage under clothes plays out, situation by situation, once it fits:
| Situation | What can show | What helps |
|---|---|---|
| Sitting at a desk all day | Almost nothing; seated, the cage is invisible | Supportive underwear so it doesn’t shift when you stand |
| Walking, standing, meetings | A faint outline in thin or tight trousers | Length on the short side; darker or heavier fabric |
| The gym or pool | The outline in shorts or wet swim trunks | Compression shorts; steel won’t corrode in chlorinated or salt water, so swimming itself is fine |
| A locker room or a medical exam | The cage itself | Nothing hides a cage from someone looking straight at it; plan for it or remove it |
| An airport | They will set off a metal detector | Extra screening or checked luggage, your choice |
| Sleeping next to someone | Nothing under a sheet | A drop of baby oil gel under the base ring before bed |
What your Keyholder notices, and what strangers don’t
One last thing, because it comes up. The wearer is always more aware of the cage than anyone else in the room. Strangers are not looking. Coworkers are not looking. A partner who knows what to look for can tell. Once the first week of adjustment passes and you forget the cage is there, the question of who can see it tends to answer itself; what wearing a cage actually feels like covers that first week plainly.
